METAPURIN Operational Group: Methane generation inhibitors for the management of slurry at slightly acidified pH

This Task Force was established to draft a proposal to evaluate the use of a methane inhibitor in manure management, based on the stanines of red yeast rice.

The tests carried out on slurry storage pits and ponds are designed to evaluate the degree of methanogenesis inhibition and the duration of its maintenance. The tests also assess how the reduction in emissions can reduce slurry acidification and the positive impact this has on field application.
