Operational Group: Sustainable production in garden crops based on the promotion of macro and micro organisms

Description

An Operational Group has been established to promote a technology-based pilot project for watermelon, cabbage, and lettuce crops to increase their sustainability and produce high-value products by improving:

  • Biodiversity through the use of natural enemies of pests, pollinators, and mycorrhizae.
  • Biological control by conservation with insectary plants and pollination with honey plants.
  • Fertilizer management and pesticide reduction, streamlining fertilizer use, and implementing integrated pest and disease management.
Objectives

The main objective of the proposal is to implement sustainable production measures in orchard crops, focusing on:

  • Biological Control for Conservation through the use of insectary plants.
  • The conservation of honeybees in horticultural environments
  • Optimizing irrigation management in combination with mycorrhizal fungi to control disease occurrence
    from the root.
  • The project focuses on three economically important crops: watermelon, cabbage, and lettuce.
