Operational Group: Minimizing the impact of tail biting on pig farms

The Operational Group studies the incidence of tail biting on member farms, collecting information and conducting a statistical study of the level of tail biting on fattening and transition farms (including collective and individual prevalence).

A study of the influence of variables, typology, and visual detection is also planned, as well as an analysis of parameters affecting prevalence, and an anatomical, histological, and nerve sensitivity study to determine the need for partial tail amputation. Finally, the goal is to establish comprehensive strategies based on the results obtained.
