Description
INNOMIEL: An innovative project for the remote monitoring of hives and apiaries with the aim of increasing the competitiveness and efficiency of beekeeping operations and improving the sanitation, traceability, and quality of honey.
Objectives
- Reduce the number of trips made by beekeepers to apiaries and prevent the theft of hives (specific objective of receiving an alert on the application within three minutes of a hive being moved).
- Improve the selection of apiary settlements and the traceability of bee products.
- Prevent the reduction of the bee population due to the influence of varroa, black spot (ascospheriosis) and Asian wasp (vespa velutina), with the measurable objective of providing at least one early warning of one of these phenomena.
Results
- Development of a mobile app that allows users to monitor the status of hives and a sensor kit that monitors them in real time and sends the data to the cloud.
- Expansion of the mobile application for apiary management and development of a system that allows the exchange of food traceability information for bee products.
- Development of a system that identifies patterns for the early detection of diseases, parasites, or predator activity in the hive.
