Description
Promote among farmers the adoption of innovative measures to save on energy bills for irrigation and water consumption, which will ensure the competitiveness and sustainability of the sugar beet sector after the disappearance
Objectives
- Improve crop yield through proper irrigation application, in addition to reducing the farmer's dependence on irrigation.
- Reduce the energy cost of irrigation in sugar beet crops by improving the efficiency of water use and the energy used in its distribution.
- Increase the accessibility of information and its transfer to farmers and technicians through modular and specific courses
- Develop a web platform that integrates the information collected
Results
- Overall improvement in beet yield in 2022
- A 40% to 60% reduction in the energy costs of irrigation in the Marchena (Se), Palaciosrubios (Sa) and Rueda (Va) demonstrators.
- Provision of training courses, technical workshops and visits to demonstrators
- Resource library available on the web
- Creation of an integrative web platform aimed at farmers, companies and institutions, in order to connect farmers with companies capable of providing them with services of some kind related to water and energy savings.
