Description
Promote among farmers the adoption of innovative measures to save on energy bills for irrigation and water consumption, which will ensure the competitiveness and sustainability of the sugar beet sector after its disappearance.
Objectives
- Improve crop yield through proper irrigation application, as well as reducing the farmer's dependence on irrigation.
- Reduce the energy cost of irrigation in sugar beet crops by improving the efficiency of water use and the energy used in its distribution.
- Increase the accessibility of information and its transfer to farmers and technicians through modular and specific courses.
- Develop a web platform to integrate the information collected.
Results
- Overall improvement in the yield obtained in beet cultivation in 2022. Decrease of between 40% and 60% in the energy cost of irrigation in the Marchena (Se), Palaciosrubios (Sa) and Rueda (Va) demonstrators.
- Providing training courses, technical workshops and visits to demonstrators.
- Resource library available on the web.
- Creation of an integrative web platform aimed at farmers, companies and institutions, in order to put farmers in contact with companies capable of providing them with services of some kind related to water and energy savings.
