Description

Comprehensive management of animal tuberculosis from a "One Health" perspective with innovative biosecurity measures for livestock farms, wildlife management, advanced environmental diagnostics, and transfer of available knowledge.

Objectives
  • Transfer knowledge and technologies related to the control of health risks to livestock farms.
  • Promote and establish protocols for the certification and health accreditation of extensive livestock farms and maximize the understanding and use of livestock sanitation campaigns.
  • Promote good hunting and natural space management practices and involve hunters and administrations in controlling the overabundance of wild ungulates.
  • Make profitable livestock farming compatible with the use of its surroundings.
  • Create a network of specialists at a national level to advise livestock farmers and game managers on how to optimise the health of wild and domestic animals.
Results
  • Reduction in disease prevalence rates and improved farm economic performance.
  • Establishment of a systematic protocol for certifying livestock farms based on their health status.
  • Establishment of sustainable population levels of wild ungulates from a health perspective.
  • Design and publication of a joint comprehensive management strategy against animal tuberculosis.
  • Establishment of a group of 10 specialist advisors on shared diseases.
