Description
Improve the productivity of agricultural farms by reducing economic losses caused by damage caused by rabbit populations. Damage prevention measures will be implemented in different crops and their effectiveness will be analyzed.
Objectives
- Reduce economic losses caused by rabbits in selected farms in pilot areas
- Conduct a multi-criteria analysis of damage prevention measures and assess their cost-benefit ratio and compatibility with biodiversity conservation in agrosystems.
- Reducing social conflict between the agricultural sector and the rabbit industry
- To inform the general public, and especially the agricultural sector, about the problem of rabbit damage in agriculture and the existing viable solutions.
Results
- Reduction of rabbit damage in selected plots
- Installation and evaluation of 8 measures with different variations and their control plots in a total of 125 plots
- Significant damage reduction with chemical inhibitors, fencing, ferret control, and deterrents, with reductions of 95.7%, 91.5%, 87.4%, and 71.9%, respectively.
- Improving social conflict in pilot areas
- Carrying out outreach activities through conferences, workshops, informative talks, and articles published in industry magazines
