Description

Improve the productivity of agricultural farms by reducing economic losses caused by damage caused by rabbit populations. Measures to prevent damage to different crops will be implemented and their effectiveness will be analyzed.

Objectives
  • To reduce economic losses caused by rabbits on selected farms in the pilot areas.
  • Conduct a multi-criteria analysis of damage prevention measures and assess their cost-benefit ratio and their compatibility with biodiversity conservation in agrosystems.
  • Reduce social conflict between the agricultural sector and the rabbit.
  • To raise awareness among the general public, and in particular the agricultural sector, of the problem of damage caused by rabbits in agriculture and the viable solutions that exist.
Results
  • Reduction of damage caused by rabbits in the selected plots.
  • Installation and evaluation of 8 measures with different variations and their control plots in a total of 125 plots.
  • Significant reduction in damage with chemical inhibitors, fencing, ferrets and repellents, with reductions of 95.7%, 91.5%, 87.4% and 71.9%, respectively.
  • Improving social conflict in pilot areas.
  • Carrying out outreach activities through conferences, workshops, informative talks and articles published in industry magazines.
