Description

Cereal is the crop with the largest territorial base in Spain. The project addresses the hydrological, agronomic, environmental, climatic, social and economic challenges of these crops through the transfer of technology in three pilot areas.

Objectives
  • More sustainable cereal cultivation in line with the challenges of soil protection and conservation, water saving, integration into the landscape, enhancing the added value of ecosystem services and adaptation to climate change.
  • More profitable cereal cultivation in line with the challenges of new global markets and policies.
  • Catalyst of social integration for better incorporation of young people and women into rural employment.
  • Review of alternative cereal crops in sensitive rural areas and integration with other cross-cutting work networks in the territory.
Results
  • Water saving and improvement in soil conservation and protection against erosion in cereal-growing areas, Improvement and quantification of the added value of agroecosystems
  • Improving agricultural profitability and promoting the integration of young people and women into employment in cereal-growing areas
  • Integration with H2020, LIFE projects and other Operational Groups
