Description
Preserve, restore and improve the agricultural use of soils in “solar farms”, so that photovoltaic installations do not displace agricultural and livestock farms, while improving their energy efficiency.
Objectives
- Improve the economic results of agricultural/livestock farms thanks to the coexistence and symbiosis with photovoltaic installations "solar gardens".
- Search for optimal plant species to grow on the plots where the "solar gardens" are installed.
- Restore and prevent soil erosion in plots where “solar gardens” are installed, while improving the energy efficiency of photovoltaic modules
Results
- Development of a database relating to solar farms and their possible coexistence with agricultural and livestock farms on the land on which they are installed.
- Preparation of an economic feasibility report in relation to the crops implemented. Implementation of crops adapted to the soil and climate conditions of the area in which the photovoltaic plants are located, allowing for increased efficiency in the use of solar energy at ground level while minimising the negative effects of photovoltaic installations on crops.
- Development of an environmental sustainability study of photovoltaic soils and a prospective and redesign study for agro-solar installations with soil cultivation. Design and implementation of a replicability platform for the agrovoltaic system.
