New advisory support to support the digital transition in the agri-food sector
Description
As of today, May 20, 2024, applications can be made for the new grants for advice on the digitalization of the agri-food and forestry sector. With an amount of three million euros, co-financed with the European Union, privately owned non-profit entities and social economy entities can apply until June 14.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), through the Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund (FEGA), published on May 16, 2024 in the Official State Gazette (BOE) the call for aid for advisory services aimed at the digitalization of the agri-food and forestry sector. The total budget is three million euros, spread over two years, within the framework of the cross-cutting objective included in the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027.
The Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS) is being strengthened with these new grants specifically aimed at creating digitalisation advisory services and providing free digitalisation advice.
Free advice for farmers and ranchers
The MAPA hopes that with this boost “the beneficiary entities can create digital platforms that allow them to provide quality advice to the sector”. In addition, it wants that “with the aid for the programme for the provision of advice on digitalisation, it is ensured that it is free of charge to the cooperative, SME, or interested professional. This aid can be used to facilitate the user's implementation of the Digital Agricultural Exploitation Notebook (CUE)”, thus contributing to responding to the demands of farmers and ranchers for facilities to implement the requirements of the CAP.
Private non-profit or social economy entities that can apply for subsidies must have a national or supra-regional scope and a link to the agri-food or forestry sector.
The ultimate goal of these grants is to support the use of advisory services for the digital transformation of companies and professionals in the agricultural and forestry sector with the aim of improving their economic, social and environmental results, promoting respect for the environment and improving the adaptability of farms and investments.
The deadline for submitting applications is 2:00 p.m. on June 14, 2024.
