Description

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food is carrying out two projects to modernise 3,492 hectares of irrigated land in the province of Girona, with a total investment of 36.85 million euros.

The works will benefit 1,274 irrigators in the municipalities of Albons, Bellcaire d'Empordà, L'Escala, La Tallada d'Empordà, Torroella de Montgrí, Pals, Gualta, Fontanilles, Palau-Sator, Ullastret, Serra de Daró, Verges and Viladamat. The aim of the projects is to reduce energy costs by installing photovoltaic solar panels and implementing remote control systems to digitalise irrigation management .

One of the projects will modernise the irrigation community of the Colomers dam, which until now was supplied by a pipeline connected to the Ter river weir, thanks to a previous work by the ministry. The second project involves the modernisation of the distribution network of the irrigation community of Rec de Molí de Pals.
