The Junta of Castilla y León signs an agreement for vocational training students to be trained with state-of-the-art tractors
Description
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development of Castilla y León has signed an agreement with the main brands of agricultural tractors in the region with the aim of providing students of vocational training in the agricultural sector with practical training with machinery equipped with the most advanced technologies . This measure seeks to promote the modernization and digitalization of the agricultural sector.
Thanks to this collaboration, students will be able to acquire specialized knowledge in the use of innovative technologies for the agricultural sector, such as the use of satellite images, sensors and Big Data .
A total of nine brands – Case IH, Claas, Deutz Fahr, Fendt, John Deere, Massey Ferguson, McCormick, New Holland and Valtra – will be supplying modern tractors with 130 to 180 horsepower, as well as agricultural implements such as fertiliser spreaders, seed drills and sprayers, every year until 2027.
The aim of this initiative is to improve the training of students, preparing them to respond to the demands of a sector that requires highly specialised professionals, according to the area's advisor, María González Corral. In this way, students of vocational training in agriculture in Castilla y León will improve their job prospects by becoming familiar with the operating systems of the main tractors available on the market.
The Ministry believes that this training is essential to modernise and increase the competitiveness of agricultural holdings, improving both the efficiency of tasks and their performance.
González Corral also stressed that the project aims to promote generational change in the field, training young people with solid training. To this end, specialized technicians from the participating brands will also collaborate in the process of teaching how to use the equipment.
This agreement complements other initiatives of the Ministry that seek to make the agricultural sector more attractive and efficient, such as specialized technical workshops for workers, aid for training activities, courses for entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector, the Digital Agricultural Extension program, the Agri-Food Network Platform (PAN) and the creation of three AKIS groups (Knowledge and Innovation Systems in Agriculture).
