IRTA receives recognition from MITECO for its Ovihuec.dat project

The Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has recognized IRTA for its Ovihuec.dat project, selected as one of the 39 exemplary initiatives of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) .

The project promotes extensive livestock farming as a tool for forest management and rural development , through the creation of municipal herds that help reduce the risk of fires, restore abandoned areas, and boost the local economy.

The award, presented in Madrid during an event presided over by Minister Sara Aagesen , highlights the project's innovation and impact, as well as its potential for replication in other rural areas.

With Ovihuec.dat, IRTA reinforces its commitment to sustainable land management and to the ecological transition and resilience objectives promoted by the PRTR.
