The Government is firmly committed to innovation in the agri-food sector

At the presentation of the IV Report on the Foodtech sector in Spain prepared by ICEX , the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Ministry) firmly supports the digital transformation of the sector and the thriving auxiliary technology industry for agriculture in Spain, highlighting the importance of innovation and technology as key tools to advance the process of transformation of the agri-food sector , towards more competitive, sustainable and efficient models.
The Director General of Development, Rural, Innovation and Agri-Food Training of the Ministry has explained some of the projects that will be developed during this legislature to consolidate the agrifoodtech ecosystem in Spain . Some of these initiatives have been the Agroimpulso line for agri-food SMEs, as well as the different acceleration and incubation programs for emerging companies. The objective of these actions is not only to promote the digital transformation of our sector but also to support the existing powerful technological auxiliary industry , which in many cases is the result of new business and entrepreneurship models in rural areas and the creation of employment opportunities for young people and women.
