FutureFoodS launches its second transnational co-funded call to accelerate food sustainability
Description
The European partnership FutureFoodS has announced the opening of its Second Transnational Co-financed Call for Proposals , aimed at funding research and innovation projects that drive the transition to more sustainable, healthy, circular, and transparent food systems . The call invites researchers, technology centers, universities, public administrations, NGOs, and companies—including SMEs—to submit high-impact collaborative proposals.
Three priority areas for transforming the food system
The call focuses on three strategic areas considered essential to advance towards food sustainability:
- Household food practices for sustainable and healthy diets
Projects that address, with a systemic approach, aspects related to the home: food security, culture, nutritional needs, consumption habits and consumer behavior. - Diverse, sustainable and circular food processes
Initiatives that improve processing and packaging, valorization of by-products and side-streams , and the development of foods adapted to different consumer profiles. - Trust and transparency in food systems
Proposals that identify levers for change and evaluate tools, metrics, indicators or quality signals — such as labeling — to move towards a more coherent framework, co-created with all actors in the food system.
The call accepts both exploratory research projects (TRL 3–5) and projects aimed at accelerating innovation (TRL 6–8) .
Participation requirements
- Consortia formed by at least three entities from three different countries that request funding from participating organizations.
- Interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches, with the participation of multiple actors in the system.
- A transformative vision, geared towards measurable systemic changes.
- Mandatory submission of an Impact Plan , demonstrating how the project contributes to the transformation of food systems.
- Universities, research centers, SMEs, large companies, NGOs and public bodies may participate, depending on the national or regional regulations of each funding country.
Available budget
The call has an estimated total budget of 39 million euros , provided through a virtual common fund financed by the participating countries and the European Union.
