Description

ExpoAgro Canarias unveils a high-level technical program that places the islands at the heart of the conversation on agricultural innovation , efficient water management , advanced plant protection , and new models for integrating agriculture and energy . On November 26 and 27, leading national and regional experts will share technologies, strategies, and pioneering projects that will shape the future of sustainable agriculture in island territories.

Wednesday, November 26: Day dedicated to water efficiency

Block 1 · Irrigation efficiency (16:00 – 17:45 h)

Smart water management will be the focus of the first session:

  • Optimizing irrigation in banana and avocado plantations
Carlos Álvarez — Researcher at the Canary Islands Institute of Agricultural Research (ICIA)
A technical vision to maximize efficiency in strategic crops for the Canary Islands.
  • Sustainability of irrigation in red fruits in Huelva
Pedro Gavilán — Senior Researcher at IFAPA (Regional Government of Andalusia)
Success stories and lessons learned that can be applied to other agricultural systems.

5:45 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. · Break – Coffee

Block 1 (continued): diagnosis, advice and digitization (6:15 PM – 8:00 PM)

  • From diagnosis to advice: efficient irrigation and stress response in banana plantations
Osvaldo Renz — Tenerife Irrigation Office
  • Digital technologies and artificial intelligence for crop monitoring and irrigation recommendations
Javier Hernández — Institute of Renewable Energies (ITER)
An immersion in tools based on data, sensors, and AI algorithms.

Thursday, November 27: Crop protection and agrivoltaic transition

Block 2 · Crop protection (4:00 PM – 5:30 PM)

  • The Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) to combat the Mediterranean fruit fly
Ignacio Plá Mora — TRAGSA Valencia
A biotechnological alternative to one of the main phytosanitary challenges.

5:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. · Break – Coffee

Block 3 · Agrivoltaics: towards a new agro-energy model (6:00 PM – 8:00 PM)

Thursday afternoon will be dedicated to one of the major vectors of innovation: agrivoltaics , with special attention to pilot projects in the islands.

  • TAGORA: Synergies between agriculture and energy. Agrivoltaics pilot project in Tenerife
    M.ª Elena Llarena — ITER
  • Agrivoltaic integration in agricultural holdings: the FSM Construction case
Luis Cárdenes Guerra — FSM Group
