The Agri-Food Sector Digitalization Observatory , an initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and Cajamar , has published a new working document entitled "The digital transformation in Spanish agriculture" that examines the level of digitalization in the agricultural sector , using data collected by the Observatory and official sources such as the European Commission and the European Investment Bank.
The report assesses the current implementation of digital technologies in Spanish agriculture . The findings indicate that Spain stands out in Europe for its investment in digital products and advanced machinery to optimize the use of fertilizers and pesticides .
However, despite these achievements, it is still in its early stages in terms of adopting certain technologies, such as digital tools for irrigation management .
Training, crucial to advancing agricultural digitalization
Furthermore, it faces significant challenges in overcoming the barriers to digitalization, with specific training being a crucial factor in facilitating this process.
