CTA promotes 16 new innovation projects with a strong focus on the agri-food sector

The Andalusian Technology Corporation (CTA) has approved funding for 16 new projects that will mobilize a total investment of €9.72 million , with € 3.78 million in incentives , thus consolidating its role as a strategic driver of R&D&I in the region. Among the approved initiatives are several high-impact projects for the agri-food sector , which continues to be a priority for the foundation.
These new projects reinforce key areas of innovation such as the valorization of agricultural byproducts , the development of new functional foods , advances in sensors and monitoring , and the incorporation of artificial intelligence into production processes. A total of 21 research groups from Andalusian public universities and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) are participating in these initiatives, ensuring a robust transfer of technology to industry.

Within the set of 16 approved projects, CTA is promoting several actions directly linked to the transformation of the agri-food sector:
- OLITEA : Sustainable valorization of olive leaves to develop functional infusions and fermented beverages . A project that utilizes olive grove byproducts to generate new, high-value-added, healthy foods.
- PROTOBOAT : Development of an unmanned floating vehicle for environmental analysis and predictive maintenance of floating photovoltaic solar plants , key for agro-industrial farms that are committed to renewable energies.
- RECREEA : Recovery and co-use of materials for the extraction of critical metals , essential for the agri-food industry in areas such as sensors, machinery and automation.
- SIGMA : Comprehensive R&D Management and Monitoring System based on AI, also applicable to agri-food centers and companies seeking to optimize innovation and improve their competitiveness.
- INSPECT-ROUTE : AI technologies for detecting anomalies in road infrastructure, of particular interest to agri-food logistics and freight transport.
- Continuum-DT : Cybersecure digital twin for critical infrastructures, with direct applications in agri-food industries that need to ensure the continuity and security of their processes.

In addition to the agri-food component, the projects cover sectors such as Biotechnology, Aerospace, Energy and Environment, ICT , and Building and Civil Engineering , demonstrating CTA's ability to activate multidisciplinary innovation with an impact on the entire Andalusian economy.
The initiatives will be implemented in Cordoba, Granada, Huelva, Malaga and Seville , strengthening the regional fabric and fostering collaborations between companies, universities and technology centers.
