CDTI Innovation will finance Spanish participation in the third call for the European Agroecology partnership

Publication date: 12/12/2025

Description

The Centre for the Development of Technology and Innovation (CDTI Innovación) has announced that it will fund the participation of Spanish entities in the third co-financed call for proposals of the European Agroecology Partnership , recently launched under the title “Fostering plant and animal genetic diversity and empowering farmers to accelerate the agroecological transition.” This initiative seeks to promote genetic diversity and address the social challenges that accompany the agroecological transition in Europe.

A strategic call to accelerate the agroecological transition

The Agroecology partnership—focused on accelerating the transformation of agricultural systems through living labs and research infrastructures—is launching this new international call for projects that advance in two priority areas:

  • Promoting genetic diversity and variability in crops and livestock , as the basis for more resilient agroecological systems.
  • Empowering and strengthening the role of farmers in agroecological transition processes, promoting their active participation in co-innovation and decision-making.

Proposals must be submitted by transnational consortia with at least three eligible partners from three different funding countries. Spanish entities must meet the specific requirements set out in their corresponding national annex.

Spanish funding: CDTI Innovation, AEI and Junta de Extremadura

In this edition, national funding will be provided by:

  • CDTI Innovation
  • State Investigation Agency (AEI)
  • Junta de Extremadura , for entities in its region

In this way, Spain reinforces its commitment to international collaborative research in agroecology and facilitates access for companies, technology centers and research organizations to competitive European funding.
