Advances to boost innovation and advice in the agri-food sector

The Director General of Rural Development, Innovation and Agri-Food Training, Isabel Bombal, has participated today in the inauguration of the Assembly of coordination bodies of the Knowledge and Innovation System in Agriculture, which is being held in Madrid on 22 and 23 April with the presence of representatives of the European Commission and different EU Member States. During these sessions, issues related to the role of advisory services, the improvement of training and the development of skills for advisory professionals , the integration of knowledge systems in the strategic plans of the CAP and synergies with innovation support services, among others, will be addressed.
The opening of the Assembly highlighted the progress being made in Spain to support innovation, training, knowledge exchange and advice in the agri-food sector. Among the main initiatives, he mentioned the recent creation of the Spanish coordination body for the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS), whose first meeting is scheduled for next May, the development of training and advice interventions within the framework of the PEPAC and the work to create an AKIS platform with Next Generation EU funds.
