RFEAGAS and CENSYRA of Badajoz organize an online seminar on endangered bovine breeds

The Royal Spanish Federation of Associations of Selected Livestock (RFEAGAS) , in collaboration with the CENSYRA of Badajoz , will hold the online seminar "Actions of the CENSYRA of Badajoz in the breeding programs of threatened bovine breeds" on January 14, 2026 , from 13:00 to 14:00 .
This training day is part of the cycle of online seminars that RFEAGAS will develop throughout the year with the aim of strengthening the technical training and updating of associations of breeders, livestock farmers and professionals in the sector, promoting the exchange of experiences and good practices in selective breeding.
During the meeting, the main lines of action of the CENSYRA (Center for Research and Development of Livestock Breeds) in Badajoz will be presented in support of breeding programs for endangered cattle breeds, addressing areas such as yield monitoring, animal reproduction, and the conservation of genetic resources. Additionally, studies on meat quality assessment using ultrasound will be presented for breeds such as Retinta , Berrenda en Negro , Berrenda en Colorado , and Blanca Cacereña .
The program will also include a practical case study focused on strengthening the germplasm bank of the Cárdena Andaluza breed , showing different techniques applied to its conservation and genetic improvement.
The seminar will feature presentations by Andrés Domingo , director of CENSYRA in Badajoz, and Isaac Torrado , veterinarian at the center, who will explain the work carried out by CENSYRA as a reference center in technical support for breeding programs, in coordination with public administrations, breeders' associations and livestock farmers.
