Presentation of DATAGIA, the new Digital Agri-food Platform of the RETECH project, in Valladolid
Description
Castilla y León will take a decisive step in the digital transformation of its agri-food sector with the official presentation of DATAGIA , the new Digital Agri-food Platform developed within the framework of the RETECH-PAN project, a joint initiative with La Rioja, Extremadura and Castilla-La Mancha to place the entire sector at the technological forefront.
The presentation will take place on December 1, 2025, at 12:00 pm , in the auditorium of the Agrarian Technological Institute of Castilla y León (ITACYL) – Finca Zamadueñas (Valladolid) , where the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development and the Agrarian Technological Institute of Castilla y León will announce the progress and roadmap of this ambitious digital development.
A platform to boost innovation across the entire agri-food chain
DATAGIA represents the natural evolution of the InfOrigen and Symbiocyl projects, integrating new capabilities and high-impact technologies to transform the agri-food value chain. Its central objective is to strengthen the sector's competitiveness through advanced digital solutions, intelligent analytics, and services geared towards data-driven decision-making.
The platform is structured around several key technological modules, including:
- Comprehensive traceability , to guarantee verifiable information at every link in the chain.
- Circular optimization , which facilitates the efficient reuse of by-products and waste.
- Industrial IIoT infrastructure , based on connected devices and technologies such as 5G or NB-IoT for real-time monitoring.
- Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) , oriented towards disease prediction, anomaly detection or advanced maintenance.
- Immersive augmented reality interfaces , with applications in training, remote assistance or advanced analysis.
At the heart of this digital ecosystem is the future Agri-food Data Space , an infrastructure aligned with the European Gaia-X standards, designed to promote a secure, governed and interoperable exchange of data between producers, companies and administrations.
A milestone for the digitalization of the sector
During the event on December 1st, DATAGIA will explain how it will contribute to modernizing the region's agri-food sector, promoting a more efficient, sustainable, intelligent, and interconnected model. The platform opens new opportunities for producers, cooperatives, companies, technology centers, and rural stakeholders, becoming a key pillar for the sector's future competitiveness.
The registration period is now open through the form provided by ITACyL.
