Description

StartBEC is a program by the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) and the Spanish Agency for Agricultural Innovation (AINIA) to foster technological development and boost the emerging ecosystem in the bioeconomy. Through a collaboration agreement, its objective is to promote innovative value chains linked to the agri-food sector, support entrepreneurship, and invest in talent.

The presentation of the 3rd edition of StartBEC will take place on Wednesday, February 18th at the AINIA facilities: Valencia Technology Park, Av. Benjamín Franklin, 5-11, 46980 Paterna, Valencia; from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Addressed to

  • Companies in the food, pharmaceutical, chemical or cosmetics sectors
  • Companies involved in bioeconomy activities: new sources of biomass and biofuels, upcycling , biomaterials, solutions to food waste, biofertilizers and biopesticides, etc.

  • CarbonX . A startup specializing in the creation and management of CO₂ absorption rights; it helps companies achieve their sustainability goals through nature-based solutions, by generating carbon sinks.
  • Clic Recycle. A deeptech circular economy company that transforms human hair waste into high-impact bio-based solutions for regenerative agriculture, port decontamination, and technical applications.
  • Fourstrain Labs. A biotechnology startup that produces high-value functional ingredients through precision fermentation and advanced biotechnology as sustainable and traceable alternatives to conventional animal-derived ingredients for the food, nutraceutical, and cosmetic sectors.
  • ODS Protein. A biotechnology startup producing alternative proteins based on the fermentation of filamentous fungi that add value to by-products of the food industry, offering ingredients of excellent nutritional and functional value with a significantly smaller environmental footprint than conventional proteins.
  • Omix Circular. A spin-off from the University of Alicante that offers the patented HHT (Thermal Hydro-Humification) technology to transform fruit and vegetable waste into high-value fertilizers, allowing producers to manage their waste on-site with facilities that can be amortized in the short term.
  • Organic Sanna. A company dedicated to the recovery and regeneration of agricultural soils through applied microbiology, combining live soil analysis with the design of bioreactors to produce bio-inputs in situ, transforming the farmer into a conscious manager of their own ecosystem.
