Next Wednesday, November 12, 2025 , the third edition of the LAKTIS project interim conference will be held in Granda (Asturias) , a meeting that will bring together researchers, farmers, technicians and institutions to share the first carbon footprint calculations carried out on dairy farms and discuss the most effective mitigation strategies to move towards the decarbonization of the dairy sector .

The session, organized by MEDRAR Innovation Office in collaboration with Grupo Central Lechera Asturiana , will take place at the group's facilities in Granada and will be developed in a hybrid format (in person and online).

The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a welcome coffee , followed by the presentation of the LAKTIS project (10:30 a.m.), which will explain the fundamentals of carbon footprint calculation and the methodology used for its assessment on livestock farms.

At 11:00 a.m. , Alejandro Vergara , CEO and co-founder of ODOS , will give a presentation , "The Basics of Carbon Footprint Calculation. What Impacts Do Different Management Changes Have?" , in which he will present the overall results obtained to date within the framework of the project.

Subsequently, the technical team from Central Lechera Asturiana will conduct a group dynamic (11:20 a.m.) in which participants will analyze the initial results of two typical farms , allowing them to compare the effects of different management practices on emissions and environmental efficiency.

After a coffee break and networking session (12:20 pm), a roundtable discussion on decarbonisation innovation will be held (12:35 pm), moderated by Rubén Hidalgo González , Director of Open Innovation at Central Lechera Asturiana . Experts from AGACA , the University of Santiago de Compostela , Entomo Agroindustrial , Pentabiol , Innogando , Gregorio Salcedo and Solid Forest will participate, sharing their experiences and visions on the transition towards low-carbon livestock farming.

After lunch (1:30 p.m.), the day will continue with a visit to the demonstration livestock farm of the Regional Service for Agri-Food Research and Development (SERIDA) (3:00 p.m.), where participants will be able to learn firsthand about innovative practices in sustainable management and energy efficiency.

The meeting will conclude at 6:00 p.m. with the final presentations by the MEDRAR Innovation Office team, who will summarize the lessons learned from this third edition and the next steps for the LAKTIS project.

This event marks a new milestone in the development of the project, consolidating LAKTIS as a key initiative for promoting sustainability, innovation, and climate action in the Spanish dairy sector.
