About the CARINA project
Funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe program, the CARINA project focuses on the development of emerging crops such as carinata and camelina. These oilseeds stand out for their low impact on indirect land use change (ILUC) and their suitability for generating sustainable raw materials for the bioeconomy.
In addition to its applications in the production of oils and biobased products such as bioplastics, bioherbicides, and biostimulants, the project also contemplates the use of crop byproducts, such as protein-rich meal for livestock use and valuable compounds extracted from the mucilages and glucosinolates present in the seeds.
