CIHEAM Zaragoza will organize the “First Mediterranean Week of Food Entrepreneurship” from June 22 to 26, 2026 , an advanced face-to-face course that will take place in Zaragoza and is created with the aim of training a new generation of entrepreneurs in the agri-food sector , promoting innovation, knowledge transfer and transformative leadership in the Mediterranean.

The initiative focuses on the role of entrepreneurship (start-ups and spin-offs) as a driving force for addressing economic, social, and environmental challenges, and on the growing importance of female entrepreneurship for its contribution to economic growth, social cohesion, and inclusive development. The course is supported by collaborating organizations, including AECID and AJE Zaragoza .

A practical and participatory program

In a dynamic environment, the week will combine theoretical sessions with practical workshops , ideation activities, mentoring and visits to companies , promoting the exchange of good practices and the connection between professionals, entrepreneurs and change agents of the Mediterranean region.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Scale and consolidate micro-enterprises and start-ups with a solid entrepreneurship framework that ensures economic viability and environmental sustainability .
  • To foster a new generation of leaders through peer learning , ideation, and mentoring with experts and entrepreneurs.
  • To interact effectively with young people and women in the Global South , contributing to resilient employment and strengthening food security in rural areas.
  • Promote investments aligned with the strategic priorities of Mediterranean agri-food systems.
