Animal health in Spain: Importance, risks and consequences
Description
This webinar will address the current status of the main animal diseases affecting the sector, their consequences for trade, and the importance of preventing their entry through biosecurity strategies and measures.
This event will analyze the current status of major animal diseases. The current status of diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease, ASF, avian influenza, and other rapidly spreading diseases present in neighboring countries will be discussed. The recent evolution of outbreaks, their geographic spread, and the most affected livestock species and activities will be presented.
Based on this analysis, the risks of transmission and entry into Spain will be addressed, especially in pig, ruminant, and poultry farms. The impacts that the emergence of these diseases would have on livestock production, animal mobility, and the marketing of final products will also be discussed, with particular attention to the consequences for the export of meat, meat products, milk, dairy products, and eggs.
All of this is intended to highlight the importance of implementing effective prevention, movement control, and biosecurity measures in each productive activity, in order to preserve the country's current health status.
