REGENPAT Project: Production of edible potatoes in Álava under regenerative management

Abstract
Regenerative agriculture is an approach to conserving and restoring food and agricultural systems. It focuses on regenerating topsoil, increasing biodiversity, improving the water cycle, expanding ecosystem services, increasing resilience to climate change, and strengthening the health and vitality of agricultural land.
Description of activities

Definition of a regenerative management manual for extensive crop rotations that include ware potatoes. Agricultural valorization of regenerative agriculture (development, monitoring, and evaluation of data) through a pilot project for ware potato production under the management standard determined in Action 1 and evaluation of objective (measurable) parameters to guarantee certification systems and standardization of the production system. Market study of a new product, "regenerative ware potatoes." Dissemination, coordination, and revitalization of ware potato production under regenerative management systems in Araba.

Objectives

The main objective of the project was to define quantifiable indicators that demonstrate the regeneration of crop soil under the general premises of regenerative agriculture for the production of edible potatoes in Álava and their social value.
