Description

The European Eco-practices project focuses on increasing the employability of students in intermediate vocational training courses in the fields of agriculture and forestry and on raising the international profile of our school (Federation of Family Agricultural Schools of Penibética Andalusia). We carried out a mobility project in which, over the course of a month, 30 of our students completed internships in Italian companies related to their field of study. Of these 30 students, 12 were students in the intermediate vocational training course in organic production and 18 in forestry and environmental conservation. This project was carried out in collaboration with Europe For All, an Italian NGO with extensive experience participating in European projects and responsible for hiring accommodations and selecting internships in companies.

Description of activities

We monitored the internships at our own center through tutors who accompanied the students. We maximized the effectiveness of the activity, facilitating their integration (in most cases, they had never left Spain) and minimizing potential problems with personalized, on-site support.

In practice, it's worth noting that all the project's mobility programs were successfully implemented, and all companies or students with suitable profiles (orchard maintenance, farms, food industry) were integrated into the organizations. However, when conducting the internships in southern Italy, it has been more difficult to find companies directly dedicated to logging. Therefore, for future editions of the project, we plan to implement it in northern Italy, where we believe it will be easier to find these types of companies.

Results

Following the completion of the trial period, a thorough monitoring and evaluation of the project's impact on our school and our students was conducted using questionnaires, interviews, and a series of indicators. The project was also widely disseminated, both through newspaper articles in Italian and through media appearances in the online edition of Granada's Ideal newspaper and interviews on Granada's Cadena Cope, Granada's local television channel TG7, the school's newsletter, the project participants' websites, and other organizations. An evaluation of the project's short-, medium-, and long-term impacts was subsequently conducted.
