Description
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA), through the State Commercial Society of Agrarian Infrastructures (SEIASA), has formalized today two collaboration agreements with the irrigation communities of Ruijas-Ebro and Villamoñicos-Revelillas, in the municipality Cantabro of Valderredible to carry out modernization actions in these irrigation systems for a value of 2,000,000 euros (VAT not included).
Both projects are part of the program to improve Irrigation Efficiency and Sustainability of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR) and will involve the modernization of 696 hectares cultivated by 202 irrigators in the Cantabrian municipality of Valderredible.
The actions include the installation of photovoltaic solar panels for existing pumping, the improvement of hydrants for measuring and managing the volume of irrigation water, as well as water collection works to improve existing intake points. This aims to achieve an improvement in energy efficiency and more efficient water management.
The public contribution will be a maximum of 80%, while the irrigating communities must contribute the rest. The works are scheduled to be completed in 2026.
