COAG organizes a conference in Vélez-Rubio on generational change and the incorporation of young people and women into agricultural activity

- The event will be held on March 24, 2026 at the Old Library of Vélez-Rubio (Almería) and will address both opportunities for joining the sector and digital tools applied to agricultural production.
COAG will hold the "Stimulating generational change. Incorporation of young people and women into agricultural activity" conference on March 24, 2026 in Vélez-Rubio (Almería). This initiative aims to highlight the importance of facilitating the entry of new generations and women into the agri-food sector, as well as to publicize resources and tools that promote a more competitive and innovative agricultural activity.
The event will take place in the Old Library , located at Calle Amistad, 1 , and will bring together professionals, young people interested in joining the agricultural sector, rural women and people linked to the sector who want to learn more about the opportunities, challenges and support available to promote generational change in the countryside.
The program will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the opening remarks by Andrés Góngora Belmonte , provincial secretary of COAG Almería , and Eduardo López Fernández , of COAG Almería's Young Farmers Association . Following this, at 10:30 a.m. , Jesús Fernández Cantón , a technician from COAG Almería, will deliver the keynote address on establishing young farmers , covering key issues related to entering the sector.
Following a question and answer session scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and a break at 12:00 p.m. , the day will continue at 12:15 p.m. with several digital presentations focused on innovation applied to the agricultural sector. This session will cover topics such as the use of drones in agriculture and the digital farm management system , with a specific session on how to optimize farming with Demetria .
The program will continue at 1:30 p.m. with a round table discussion , conceived as a space for dialogue and exchange of experiences regarding the present and future of the sector, before the closing ceremony and lunch , scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
With this event, COAG focuses on one of the major challenges facing the agricultural sector: ensuring generational renewal and promoting greater participation of women in agricultural activity, while also incorporating innovation and digitalization as key elements for building more sustainable, efficient farms prepared to face the challenges of the future.
