Description

The Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Salamanca (IRNASA-CSIC) is organizing the in-person workshop “Biological Control of the Common Vole,” which will take place on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Muñovela Experimental Farm (Barbadillo, Salamanca). The workshop will focus on biological control strategies based on promoting the recovery of birds of prey that prey on the rodent through the installation of nest boxes , as a sustainable and economical alternative to the use of toxic pesticides and other less sustainable practices.

The activity is part of the European project OH-FINE (Organic Farming Innovations Network Europe) , funded by the European Union (Horizon Europe) and by the SERI (Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation) of Switzerland, and aimed at promoting organic production and agroecological practices through innovation and knowledge exchange.

The Muñovela Experimental Farm , about 15 km from the city of Salamanca, is a CSIC infrastructure focused on agro-environmental trials and research in real field conditions.
