Cajamar is organizing a webinar on semi-forcing and its contribution to more sustainable horticulture

Start date: 19/02/2026
Ending date: 19/02/2026
Modality: Online

Description

On February 19, 2026 , Cajamar will hold the free webinar “Semi-forcing and its role in more sustainable crops” , an online session that will analyze how these temporary protection techniques can help improve crop resilience and move towards more efficient and sustainable fruit and vegetable systems.

During the meeting, semi-forcing will be discussed as a tool for maintaining plants in optimal condition when there is a risk of light frosts, strong winds, inadequate ambient humidity, or hail . Furthermore, its role as a physical barrier against pests and diseases will be addressed, reducing their incidence and transmission, and decreasing the risk of infections and physiological disorders.

The session will also focus on its contribution to reducing pesticide use —for example, through opaque mulches that limit weed growth—and to improving irrigation efficiency and soil management by reducing moisture evaporation and promoting soil conservation. Finally, available materials for designing these systems and their potential for sustainability will be presented.
