Description
ActiBioMulch develops an agricultural mulch with active compounds that allow it to resist pathogens
Contextual description
The project focuses on more sustainable agricultural development, where farmers do not have to give up the advantages of using plastics for crop control and, in turn, benefit from a bioactive plastic that prevents the appearance of pests and diseases.
Results
A biodegradable and active agricultural mulch has been developed that protects plants by stimulating their immune system, increases fruit productivity and quality, reduces the use of pesticides and herbicides, and degrades in the soil without leaving plastic residue. Patent: We are currently in the process of filing the invention declaration with the UJI (Universitat Jaume I). We expect to receive the patentability report, which our university requires, soon. If it is positive, we will proceed to patent it, but only if we have patentable results with potential commercial value.
