Description
The project promotes resource optimization in the agri-food chain through sustainable practices, packaging reduction, and the valorization of agricultural byproducts. Strategies in industry and households are analyzed, evaluating their environmental impact through Life Cycle Assessment and circularity principles.
Results
The reusable plastic box (RPC): a) Was the best environmental and economic option. b) Achieved the greatest circularity for MCI and CI. c) Its total recyclability, i.e., manufactured from 100% recycled plastic versus 38% (current), did not provide significant benefits. d) 24 uses of RPC are required to achieve a reduction in the environmental footprint compared to single-use boxes (cardboard and wood).
