Description
Project that aims to add value to whey, a by-product of the dairy sector, for the generation of a high-density and cost-efficient polylactic acid (PLA), which can then be adapted for use in various high-end applications (automotive, construction, textile).
Results
New process for obtaining L-lactic acid through fermentation, using whey as a substrate. New polymerization process for purified L-lactic acid. Identification of a CNTA strain with high L-lactic acid production capacity, licensed to a company.
