Description

The depopulation of rural areas and the loss of the agricultural workforce. Disillusionment/unemployment in urban areas. Lack of agricultural training and support for entrepreneurship in highly sustainable agriculture. Difficulty in accessing land. The limited social impact of the RDP on groups at greater risk of exclusion. New market trends and consumer demands for local production, fresh, seasonal, and organic products. This context generates synergies between training, advice, agroecological entrepreneurship, rural settlement, and dynamism.

Description of activities
  • RECEPTION. Preparation of the call for applications to municipalities, trainers, and interested students. Presentation and pre-training sessions with municipalities: land inventory and analysis of training facilities and rental housing available to the traveling school and new residents. Selection of the host municipality.
  • LEARNING. Establishment of the learning community, ongoing training, monitoring.
  • SETTLEMENT. Assessment. Inventory and registration of land in the Land Bank. Advice to agroecological entrepreneurs, student settlement.
Objectives

To provide a mobile agricultural training program and validate a new, stable, and mobile training program based on the locations and agricultural, livestock, and food content taught.

Results
  • Increase the supply of agricultural and livestock land, and promote a land bank for agroecological use in the region.
  • Settlement of the agricultural workforce in those municipalities with the greatest potential or with the least population, contributing to the repopulation of rural areas.
  • Development of a more agroecological design and utilization of agricultural activities. Self-employment alternatives for unemployed groups, taking advantage of globally underutilized resources.
  • Increased production capacity and supply of agroecologically based food, especially geared toward local markets in the Madrid region.
  • Create a network of municipalities, professionals, rural communities, landowners, homeowners, and training users to train new farmers adapted to the municipality's agroecological potential, attracting population and boosting the agricultural and livestock economy.
  • Design a traveling school experience for agroecological training.
