Publication date: 27/09/2024

Description

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has approved 1,214 applications for aid for the renewal of agricultural machinery within the 2024 Renove Plan , which represents 88.7% of the requests submitted by farmers and ranchers. This program will allocate nearly 9.5 million euros , practically exhausting the available funds.

According to provisional estimates, the Renove Plan has boosted a total investment of approximately 39 million euros in the acquisition of new machinery. Beneficiaries have received a subsidy covering, on average, 25% of the total cost of the machinery acquired.

Direct sowing, the most benefited by the 2024 Renewal Plan

Among the most benefited equipment are direct seeding drills, with 433 units renewed, followed by equipment for applying phytosanitary products and plant waste shredders, with 249 and 213 units, respectively. Direct seeding drills are a priority item since they are the most important tool for carrying out conservation agriculture that reduces carbon dioxide emissions, increases the organic matter content of the soil and prevents its erosion. In this regard, as a novelty this year, the plan has included equipment for the management of plant covers among the subsidizable machines, with the aim of facilitating the application of the eco-regimes of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP). In total, 54 pieces of equipment have been subsidized, for an amount of more than one hundred and forty-five thousand euros, including brush cutters, brush cutter rollers, weeders and inter-row ploughs.

In addition, the replacement of tractors has been significant, with more than one million euros in aid for the replacement of 100 units. This last figure is even more important considering that recently , the National Association of Agricultural, Forestry and Green Space Machinery (ANSEMAT) has again shown that the number of used tractors that are more than 30 years old in operation is greater than the volume that makes up the market for new tractors.

By autonomous communities

In this call, the aid has been distributed among 15 autonomous communities , with Castilla y León being the most prominent, with 678 subsidized machines and more than 5.5 million euros in aid, mainly for the purchase of direct seeders. It is followed by Aragón, with 258 units, and Catalonia, with 71.
