Operational Group: Efficient and sustainable water management in fruits and vegetables through innovative tools

The main objective of the Operational Group is to optimize water management and increase the efficiency of water use in intensive and extensive farming systems in southeastern Spain through innovative technological tools and a comprehensive multivariate platform serving farmers.
Among the specific objectives of the innovative project by the AQUA 4.0 Operational Group are:

• a) Improve the comprehensive management of irrigation water in Irrigation Communities and supply sources (underground, desalinated, regenerated and rainwater) by understanding the characteristics of water resources and installing them in real time.
• b) Increase the efficiency of water use in cropping systems through the use of precision agriculture tools and water management optimization models.
• c) Reduce the water, energy and economic footprints of the irrigation system and, consequently, of the fruit and vegetable production system (ICT application protocol (BIGDATA and IoT).
