DATADOC Operational Group: Development of models and tools for the adoption of agronomic strategies for climate change adaptation within the framework of the DOCa Rioja.
- Type Operational group
- Execution 2022
- Assigned Budget 274.183,00 €
- Scope Autonómico
- Autonomous community Rioja, La
- Main source of financing PEPAC 2014-2020
The project aims to evaluate the influence of CC on the evolution of the Tempranillo variety in the DOCA Rioja, propose agronomic strategies for adaptation to new conditions, and establish a CC monitoring network in the future.
Researchers from the ICVV's VitisGestión group participate in the DATADOC innovation team, whose main objectives are to evaluate the influence of climate change on the evolution of the Tempranillo variety in the DOCa Rioja, propose agronomic strategies for adaptation to new climatic conditions, and establish a climate change monitoring network in the future.
Specific objectives:
- 1. To enhance the available information by integrating and merging historical agronomic data collected by the CRDOCA with climate information from public stations of the Government of La Rioja.
- 2. Establish a network of stations in selected plots that allow for greater granularity in data capture.
- 3. Adapt existing monitoring platforms to incorporate digitized historical data and offer data-driven decision-making tools.
- 4. Determine the correlation between historical temperature and precipitation variations and vegetative evolution, grape quality and production.
- 5. Draw conclusions about the impact of CC on the Tempranillo variety and extrapolate these to other varieties.
- 6. Propose different agronomic strategies at the DOCA level for adaptation to CC of the vineyard.
7. Establish a surveillance network for CC in the DOCA Rioja, through a network of sensor-equipped plots.
Objective 1 will lay the foundation for the project by creating a homogeneous database of climatic data and vegetative states of the plots. It will allow for the analysis of the relationships between these, draw conclusions, and assess what strategies should be adopted in the DOCA Rioja to adapt the vineyard to CC. Historical data will be used, but one objective is to perform these analyses automatically in the future by adapting a DSS platform.
