Operational Group: Application of an innovative tool for the conservation and improvement of the management of native chestnut varieties in Galician groves

This Task Force seeks to develop a GIS-based software tool that allows for the location of chestnut plots, perfectly georeferenced, identified, and classified by the variety present. This way, during the chestnut harvesting campaign, it is possible to optimize homogeneous chestnut lots by variety and end market type, and to optimize mechanized harvesting methods once it is known when they will ripen and where the plots with homogeneous varieties are harvested.

This application would be available to chestnut producers, improve management, enhance the annual production supply, perfectly classified in space and time and organized into homogeneous batches, and increase the possibilities of signing stable supply contracts with buyers and the processing industry.
