Operational Group: Development and implementation of hybrid chestnut reproduction techniques (temporary immersion system and microcutting)
- Type Operational group
- Execution 2017
- Assigned Budget 5.000,00 €
- Scope Autonómico
- Autonomous community Galicia
- Main source of financing PEPAC 2014-2020
This system allows for the rapid and cost-effective production of shoots via large-scale organogenesis, and another via green microcutting under very high-pressure misting. The objectives are to launch a chestnut reproduction center using innovative temporary immersion and green microcutting systems and to consolidate reproduction methods for use by chestnut nursery growers in Galicia, through training and information on the project's results, in addition to meeting the current national demand for chestnut trees.
This Task Force aims to develop and implement two innovative plant reproduction systems, one based on intermittent contact of the liquid culture medium with the explants for a short period of time and the subsequent renewal of the gaseous atmosphere, to prevent tissue hyperhydration and the accumulation of toxic gases.
