Development and implementation of hybrid chestnut reproduction techniques (temporary immersion system and microcutting)

  • Type Grupo operativo
  • Execution 2017
  • Assigned Budget 5.000,00 €
  • Scope Autonómico
  • Autonomous community Galicia
  • Main source of financing PEPAC 2014-2020
Description

This Operating Group pursues the development and implementation of two novel plant reproduction systems based on intermittent contact of the liquid culture medium with the explants for a short period of time and the subsequent renewal of the gaseous atmosphere, to avoid hyperhydration of the tissues and the accumulation of toxic gases.

This system allows the production of shoots via organogenesis on a large scale, in a fast and economical way and another by green micro-cutting under nebulization at very high pressure.

Objectives

The objectives are to launch a chestnut reproduction centre using innovative temporary immersion and green micro-cutting systems and to consolidate reproduction methods to be used by chestnut nurserymen in Galicia, through training and information on the results of the project, in addition to meeting the current demand for chestnuts at a national level.
