Precision agriculture: professionalization of natural pollination in greenhouse production in Galicia

The objective of this Task Force is to promote bumblebee pollination in greenhouses in Galicia and to evolve from a product-based model to a service-based model; the aim is to increase productivity, product quality, working conditions and income levels of Galician farms dedicated to greenhouse cultivation.

They are of fundamental importance in greenhouses, as in addition to significantly increasing production, they improve fruit setting, producing better-formed fruits that are preferred by consumers. Better-formed fruits command a higher price on the market. Compared to other pollinating insects, the bumblebee is a very effective pollinator.

The aim is, on the one hand, to spread bumblebee pollination in greenhouses in Galicia and, on the other, to evolve from a product-based model to a service-based model.
