Innocastanea. Innovation in forestry practices and sustainable management of chestnut trees in Galicia

The objective of this Operational Group is to disseminate the existing productive and ecological knowledge on chestnut production techniques in Galicia, evaluating from a productive perspective the plant production phase and selection of the most suitable varieties, going through the establishment and silvicultural care to improve the production of fruit chestnuts in adult and new stands.

Among the owners it was detected that there is still a great need to know new aspects related to forestry management and fruit production (pruning, thinning, grafting, etc.) and in this way improve their productivity, and in some cases it can lead to the recovery of currently abandoned groves.
