Description

This Task Force aims to find effective methods to reduce the impact of large carnivores like wolves on livestock, maintaining a balanced approach between rural development and the conservation of these species.

Objectives

The objectives will be:

  • To test the effectiveness of different measures to prevent wolf attacks on livestock in different types of livestock and in different areas with different management.
  • Optimize the cost-benefit ratio of protective measures used by livestock farmers in different situations; innovate in the adoption of preventive practices against wolf attacks.
  • Innovate in the adoption of management practices that reduce livestock vulnerability and increase damage detection, adapted to the productive reality of farms and that do not entail a loss of competitiveness.
  • Facilitate the large-scale implementation of effective protection measures against livestock depreciation.
  • Reduce the depreciation rates of extensive livestock in Galicia caused by wolves.
