Biosecurity, in the current context of African Swine Fever (ASF), is key to preventing the disease from entering our territory.
Exports to third countries would be severely affected by the emergence of ASF, therefore, biosecurity must be addressed as a preventative measure. Cleaning and disinfecting livestock trucks is key here; it is essential that this is carried out correctly.
The objective is to assess the possibility of finding mechanical and automatic methods that allow for the cleaning and disinfection of trucks while also complying with regulations on how this cleaning and disinfection should be carried out.
It is possible to mechanize the process and at the same time automate it for the vast majority of livestock transport systems.
Furthermore, cleaning time cannot be shortened, ensuring that the cleaning and disinfection process is completed in its entirety. It would be necessary to assess whether mechanized and automated truck washing achieves the same results as manual cleaning and disinfection.
