Description

The Operational Group is developing a project focused on evaluating and identifying the various alternatives that allow the circular economy to be implemented in the agri-food sector.

Description of activities
  • Analysis of the starting situation.
  • Comparative evaluation of the most efficient and environmentally sustainable alternatives with an emphasis on biofumigation and biodisinfection, composting and livestock recycling of organic agricultural waste, the use of biodegradable materials in mulch and raffia, reducing the carbon footprint in production and marketing, the use of renewable energy, and efficient irrigation techniques.
  • Design of the development parameters for a future information and demonstration tool for profitable and sustainable farm management.
  • Definition of training and capacity building tools for farmers.
  • Dissemination through good practice guides, technical dossiers, and professional conferences.
Objectives
  • Evaluate and determine the different alternatives that allow for the implementation of the circular economy in the agri-food sector by reducing the water, energy, and carbon footprint throughout the entire value chain.
  • Minimization and reuse of agricultural waste and restoration of biodiversity.
