New remote sensing models in olive groves to improve productivity and the environment

  • Type Grupo operativo
  • Execution 2017
  • Assigned Budget 5.000,00 €
  • Scope Autonómico
  • Autonomous community Andalucía
  • Main source of financing PEPAC 2014-2020
Description

The Task Force will develop models to: predict olive phenology (flowering, veraison); the oil accumulation curve, not developed to date; and the impact of extreme events (heat and drought) on harvest prediction.

By predicting productivity and crop conditions, the models will allow for: adjusting water, fertiliser and phytosanitary treatment needs and coordinating these tasks for the 110 DCOOP partners, thereby reducing costs and inputs and therefore environmental pollution associated with fertilisers and phytosanitary products, and allowing costs to be adjusted to predicted yields.

The dissemination will reach the 75,000 families that make up DCOOP, IFAPA will carry out the dissemination in the academic field and Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de Andalucía through the contact networks in the agricultural field that groups together practically all the agro-industrial cooperatives.
