Sustainable chemical control of the mango white scale (Aulacaspis tubercularis)
The white mealybug is a key pest in mango crops in Andalusia as it produces significant
Application of Phytosanitary Products at the Pilot Applicator Level: Training Content Update
Table of Contents: Unit 1: General aspects of plant protection; Unit 2: Phytosanitary products: classification and characteristics; Unit 3: Phytosanitary product formulations: nature and characteristics. Unit 4: Environmental risks derived from
Increasing biodiversity in dryland herbaceous crops through the implementation of multifunctional margins
A study on the impact on biodiversity in four farms in the Seville countryside, where four different types of multifunctional margins have been established on farms with cereal-sunflower-legume rotations in the Lower Guadalquivir valley. Particular attention is paid to soil arthropod fauna and pollinators.
Use of Bacteria in the Biocontrol of Asparagus Fusarium Wilt
This paper presents a study of the effect of applying bacteria to asparagus plants for the biocontrol of the pathogenic fungi Fusarium oxysporum, F. solani, and F. proliferatum. The studies were carried out on the Grande variety at the IFAPA Las Torres y Tomejil Center in Alcalá del Río (Seville).
Coverage Variability in Chickpeas
This study aimed to determine whether there is variability in the green canopy trait within a collection of 21 chickpea ecotypes. The experiment was carried out on a farm in the municipality of El Carpio (Córdoba) during the 2021/2022 agricultural season. The statistical design of the trial was randomized blocks with three replications.
Use of Growth-Promoting Bacteria as a Replacement for the Use of Synthetic Products in Strawberry Cultivation
This document presents a study of the effects of applying PGP bacteria to strawberry plants, with a dual purpose: first, to increase root development and therefore plant growth through the use of auxin-producing bacteria, and second, to combat the pathogenic fungus M. phaseolina, using bacteria as biocontrol.
Application of Phytosanitary Products. Fumigator Level. 2020 Edition
This second edition of the Manual for the Application of Phytosanitary Products at the Fumigator Level includes some modifications to the content and wording compared to the one published in 2017, with the aim of updating and improving the quality of the training provided by both accredited entities and IFAPA.
Potential crops to diversify agricultural production in Andalusia
This document includes several crops with development potential in Andalusia due to their adaptability to certain regions based on their soil and climate requirements and the market opportunities they represent.
Emerging and Newly Emerging Pests in Protected Horticultural Crops
This document includes general aspects of both secondary and newly emerging species, providing information on their biology, the crops most affected by each species, as well as the damage they cause and the chemical and biological control measures currently available.
Biological Control Strategy Using Amblyseius swriskii in Cucumber Crops
This document presents the results of a series of trials aimed at developing a new strategy for introducing the predatory mite Amblyseius swirskii into cucumber crops.
Estimating crop water requirements using remote sensing
This publication describes an approach for estimating crop water requirements by integrating remote sensing information into the guidelines contained in FAO Manual 56. Accurate estimation of crop water consumption, or evapotranspiration (ET), allows irrigation inputs to be adjusted to actual plant needs. This would optimize water use, reducing the environmental impact of irrigation.
Remote sensing for agriculture
This publication provides a series of basic concepts on the use of remote sensing focused on the agricultural sector. The various sections of the document detail the fundamental characteristics and resolution of the data provided by remote sensors, as well as the main satellites currently available for agricultural applications.
Sustainable rainfed herbaceous cropping systems. Operation 10.1.4
This "Agro-Environment and Climate" Training Day is part of the actions aimed at ensuring proper compliance with the agro-environmental commitments acquired in some of the operations included in Measure 10 of the Andalusian Rural Development Program (PDRA).
Influence of the Cultivation System on Strawberry Varieties. 2021/2022 Crop Season. II Quality
Among the traits considered in strawberry breeding programs, in addition to those related to crop productivity, are those that confer organoleptic quality. And among consumers, this quality is undoubtedly the one that receives the most attention.
Is the Andalusian olive grove profitable? An analysis by production system.
Over the last decade, there has been an intense debate about the economic sustainability of Andalusian olive groves, where mountain and traditional systems coexist with intensive ones. This study aims to contribute to increasing knowledge about their profitability. To this end, a multi-stage survey of olive farms was conducted to establish their cost structure.
The regeneration of trees in the dehesa
Unit 1 describes in detail the role of trees in this system, sets out the process of natural tree regeneration, as well as the factors that promote and hinder it in the dehesa, and characterizes the state of tree regeneration in the dehesa in Andalusia.
Sustainable irrigation management in avocado cultivation
This paper aims to provide some key insights into improving irrigation management in Andalusian avocado cultivation. Irrigation and proper water resource management are critical factors for maintaining crop viability and long-term sustainability in the face of current water scarcity and future climate change forecasts.
Raspberry irrigation schedules based on historical weather data
This paper presents a trial of different irrigation schedules for raspberry cultivation in the province of Huelva. Treatment T1 applied the irrigation resulting from the ETo calculation under clear-sky conditions. Treatment T2 applied a schedule based on the AEMET weather forecast on a weekly basis. Treatment T3 applied a schedule based on the historical average ETo over the past 20 years.
Volatile Characterization of Organic and Conventional Orange Juice (cv. Salustiana)
This paper presents a method for analyzing volatiles in oranges using a rapid, clean, and environmentally friendly technique (solid-phase headspace microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry) to determine the volatiles that contribute to the aroma of oranges.
Antioxidant Content of Different Plum Varieties in Conventional and Organic Cultivation
This work studies the antioxidant content (anthocyanins, flavanols, flavonols and chlorogenic acids) of 8 plum varieties, both in conventional and organic cultivation.
