The Subdirectorate General for Innovation and Digitalisation has organised a new webinar of the Observatory of the Digitalisation of the Spanish Agri-Food Sector . The Spanish Fertilizer Trade Association (ACEFER) is holding the sixth edition of the National Congress on Fertilization on September 25 and 26 at the Puerta América Hotel in Madrid , under the motto “Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence” . The year 2024 has been crucial for the agricultural sector, with numerous mobilisations at European and national level highlighting the importance of agriculture and food. Energy industry and its relationship with fertilizers During the congress, key topics will be addressed such as the fertilizer market and regulations , the current situation of the agricultural sector, and technological and artificial intelligence advances in the field . Second field day on conservation agriculture in extensive crops, in Albacete/Valencia

The Spanish Association for Conservation Agriculture Living Soils (AEACSV) will hold a second free field day on conservation agriculture in extensive crops in September. This event will be held on September 25 at the "Casa Roig" farm, located between Alpera (Albacete) and Ayora (Valencia). The Casa de Roig estate, with 436 hectares, of which 300 are dedicated to extensive crops and the rest to lavender and vineyards with plant cover, is a model to follow in the region. During the day, topics such as soil management, crop rotation, soil cover, nitrogen fertilization and the environmental benefits of these practices will be discussed. The event will include four thematic stations: Station 1: 30 years of direct sowing in dry and irrigated land in Albacete, by Miguel Barnuevo. Station 2: From direct sowing to ground cover, by Vicente Bodas, agricultural director at Agrisat. Station 3: Farmer experiences, from theory to practice, by Juan José Puertas, farmer and farm owner. Lecture series on new technologies in agriculture

Between September 12 and October 2, Miguel Hernández University has launched a series of conferences entitled "The Challenges of Agriculture: Technological Innovation and Digitalization ", which will be held in Orihuela, Elche and Pilar de la Horadada. Specifically: September 12: 19:00h. Orihuela. La Lonja. 24 September: 19:00h Elche. Congress Centre. Filet de Fora, 1. October 2: 7:00 p.m. Pilar de la Horada. Coop. Surinver. The cycle has the financial support of the Alicante Provincial Council and is organised in collaboration with the town councils of Orihuela, Elche and Pilar de la Horadada. The activity is aimed at farmers, agricultural professionals and the general public. Orihuela was the setting for the first session, which was held at La Lonja. Irrigation using soil probes, nitrate control and precision agriculture were the focus of the conferences. On the 24th, precision irrigation and the use of drones for diagnostic imaging will be the main topics. EU Organic Awards 2024 Ceremony

The EU Organic Awards, which recognise excellence in the organic value chain, will be presented in Brussels on 23 September . They comprise 7 categories and 8 individual awards. The EU Eco Awards are an opportunity to recognise the work of various actors along the organic value chain who have developed an excellent, innovative, sustainable and inspiring project that produces real added value for organic production and consumption. The award ceremony will coincide with EU Organic Farming Day and will be attended by representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, the European Economic and Social Committee, the Committee of the Regions, COPA-COGECA and IFOAM Organics Europe. The winners will have the opportunity to explain their project to the public. Farm to Table Strategy Organic production has been identified as playing a key role in achieving the objectives of the European Green Deal, the Farm to Fork Strategy and the Biodiversity Strategy. The Commission also adopted the Action Plan for the Development of Organic Production in March 2021, including the launch of annual awards recognising excellence in the organic value chain. For this third edition of the EU Eco Awards, any actor or institution along the organic value chain with a noteworthy project was encouraged to apply. Each submitted project had to contribute to increased affordability and/or accessibility of organic products in the EU.

The first open day of the 53rd Seminar for Horticultural Technicians and Specialists will be held on September 23rd . It is organized by the Andalusian Institute for Research and Training in Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Organic Production (IFAPA) in collaboration with COITAND and MAPA. The event will take place at the IES El Picacho , in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, and will begin at 10:30 a.m. The programme includes a presentation on premium horticulture and a historical overview of IFAPA in Chipiona, followed by several technical presentations that will address key topics such as: The short digital marketing channel in Andalusia. Carmen Martínez Ramiro , from the Department of Training and Equal Opportunities of Cooperativas Agro-alimentarias de España , will participate in the round table "The role of rural women and eco-feminism. Rural women and policies" , which will take place within the framework of the III Congress "Rota, in a feminist key" between September 21 and 22. The needs of rural women and the policies that are necessary to be able to transform the rural and urban worlds into equality will be addressed. The Spanish Association for Conservation Agriculture of Living Soils (AEACSV) organizes a free field day on conservation agriculture in extensive crops , with the aim of promoting direct sowing . This event will take place on September 19 in Cuarte (Huesca) , at the Castillo de Orus farm, known for its successful management in direct sowing for more than 21 years. The Castillo de Orus farm, with 800 hectares, of which 640 are dedicated to extensive crops using direct sowing, is a benchmark in the region. During the day, topics such as soil management, crop rotation, soil cover, nitrogen fertilization and the environmental benefits of these practices will be addressed. Open AI Agrifood: Second international conference on Artificial Intelligence applied to the agri-food chain

Under the title "SembrAI: intelligence that feeds tomorrow", a play on words that refers to sowing AI as seeds are planted for the future harvest, the II International Congress on Artificial Intelligence applied to the Agri-Food Chain will be held in Córdoba between September 19 and 20.
